The shelf is assembled without glue, screw or nails. The different elements interlock together to a flexible shelf that can be rearanged for room and needs. There is also a media department which offers a small cinema and two music studios with recording equipment and instruments. With this broad spectrum of activities the Youth Centre wishes to be a meeting point for a huge part of Østerbro’s young people. A Café with an outdoor terrace is located at the second floor. The activities are located along the infrastructure of the building so that people pass through the different activities while going through the building. This creates a flow and smooth transitions between activities. The building is very sharp and edgy in its design as it extrudes from on the triangular lot. In contrast to this, the interior is smooth with rounded corners on interior design and infrastructure. Blågårds Plads is a large square that has in recent years begun to see better times - several cafes have opened, and a new kind of life has begun to flourish in the area. The idea was to carry forward the positive energy from Blågårds Plads to Folkets Park, therefore the museum is placed as an anchor between the two sites. By doing so, you can attract the neighborhoods residents to get involved and take part of the museum. The museum’s exterior is wood casted concrete. The hard concrete is inspired by the hard environment on Norrebro. Inside, the museum offers large gallery space with diffuse over light. All windows directly connected to an exhibition room are directed towards north so that optimal diffuse light for curating art is achieved. In collaboration with Vemund N Tjessem. 2015. This project takes on the booming business of building tall in Copenhagen. The city’s border was breeched a long time ago, and now there is the two options: keep expanding the horisontal periphery or expand vertically. This was a joint thesis together with Vemund N Tjessem. We studied the challenges of constructing a tower in Carlsberg, an area of Copenhagen going through extreme changes with the development of turning the former Carlsberg brewery campus into a densely populated neighborhood. The firm Entasis’ vision won the international masterplan competition that took place in 2007, and in it were nine towers. Eight years later the construction of the first tower has begun. Even before the tower is completed we see a huge gap between the culturally and historically rich Carlsberg, and the future developing of the vertical living. Second the setback tower, pulling back to optimize light conditions and to achieve taller towers. Third the international style modernistic tower - set back at ground level to create and public plazas. Fourth the post-modern towers - going back to the first generations zoning conditions for better air and light qualities.The big difference between the American towers and the European towers is that the towers in America is a natural continuation and expansion of the underlaying parcel grid. In Europe the towers were introduced to solve housing problems in specific parts of cities - and often placed in areas with a lot of nature around, almost to justify the vertical habitation.We found the new Carlsberg masterplan to be interesting because of its implementation of the towers as a part of the dense urban fabric. These planned volumes offered a great opportunity to study towers in direct relations to the city of Copenhagen. The design of Tower 04 is complex but can broken down into six main principles:Tower 04 is a homogenous, uniform sculpture that presumes to combine tower, tower base and adjacent city block into one figure. Tower 04 is a mix of apartments, offices and cultural program - to live, to work and to visit. The area used to be a strictly residential area until people started to build their businesses into their houses or as an additional building to their garages. This has led to an area that is filled with small businesses where people live and work in the same lot. The Hybrid is an opportunist building taking advantage of its multiple skills, it looks for unexpected, unpredictable, intimate relationships and it encourages coexistence. The hybrid is also well aware of that “unprogrammed” situations are the key to its own future. When people arrive they can’t read its programs from the outside. The rigid façade doesn’t reveal where the different programs are located within the building. When entering the building both programs are revealed, there is access to the locker rooms that leads to the bath and elevator or the stairs that leads to the apartments. The apartment’s and the bath’s staircases are placed next to each other, separated only by a wooden lattice with translucent glass. The filter between the staircases allows people across the programs to see each other’s silhouettes without ruining the baths privacy. Done in collaboration with Vemund Tjessem. 2015. This project was a study in how to implement the city’s district plan - their current goals and strategies for an area with social disbalance, a culturally mixed population with a lot of uneducated people compared with all of Copenhagen - but at the same time an area with several schools and institutes. The district plan had three strategies of importance. To lower traffic along Ørnevej (diagonal street at the top of next page) and thereby make it more pedestrian friendly. To convert the inner courtyards to green areas for the inhabitants of Fuglekvarteret (since green space is a rare commodity in the area). To add program that will support and complement the many schools and institutes, connecting&nbsp;the local people across age and geographical background. The proposal to meet these strategies is a neighbourhood Mediatheque that ties into a green belt that connects the entire blocks’ courtyard structure. The green belt derives from a “green” transformation of Ørnevej, making it more pedestrian friendly. The mediateqhue contains an internet lounge, a library, music and media room, an auditorium, a cafeteria, several work shops and studios. The intent is to offer facilities that both helps the pupils with home work or other school related activities, and reaches out to the highly mixed population that consists of young and old, christians, muslims, hindus and buddhists, workers and people recieving welfare support. <img width="1000" height="768" width_o="1000" height_o="768" been a working class neighbourhood where the inhabitants would work and live in the same area. Smaller workshops and larger factories brought along the industrial typology that this project’s material expression and form originates from. Zinc facade panels covers a modulated post and beam structure that is mechanically put together (in stead of chemically) and it is therfore easier to disassemble and reuse the material. The project’s site is a lot with several buildings in poor condition and of a smaller scale than the surrounding vernacular Copenhagen blocks.
